Press Statement - 9 March 2012: Yesterday March the 8th the world celebrated yet another International Women’s Day. ZAWU - Canada Province salutes all the significant accomplishments by many women in the fight for gender equality across the world. We indeed celebrate each and every accomplishment in this fight however big or small. Let us not forget however, that women still have monumental challenges everywhere in the world.
ZAPU was among the more than 80 fraternal organisations invited to attend the ANC's Centenary celebrations in Bloemfontein, South Africa over the weekend including the other four liberation movements which together with the ANC and ZAPU were declared as the sole authentic liberation movements of their respective countries in Southern Africa by the OAU, namely, MPLA, SWAPO, FRELIMO and PAIGC.
