Date: 17 Deecember 2011
Time: 09:00 (Gates open at 06:00)
Venue: Barbourfields Stadium, Bulawayo
On December 17, 1961, the powerful Zimbabwe African Peoples Union (ZAPU) was launched in Salisbury under the leadership of Comrade Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo. ZAPU embarked vigorously on the activated policies of the banned NDP. By this time, over 356 leaders of the banned NDP (men, youth, women and Trade Union leaders) had been banned from entering or remaining in any African reserve, including their homes. Political meetings were banned in the reserves at the time of the formation of ZAPU.
On Saturday 17 December 2011, all roads will lead to Barborfields Stadium in Bulawayo to celebrate the 50th birthday of the Zimbabwe African Peoples Union (ZAPU). Beside the motivating speeches, solidarity messages, exhibition and food, there will be world renowed musicians to grace the stage. Among them will be the Soul Brothers from South Africa, Black Umfolozi, Sandra Ndebele, gospel singer Tholakele Ngomayabo and many more local artists to keep the visitors entertained.
